In Peshawar's Khyber district, a tragic incident occurred where a mosque in Ali Masjid locality was targeted in a blast on Tuesday.

The explosion resulted in the death of one police officer, Additional SHO Adnan Afridi, who bravely confronted a suspect believed to be inside the mosque. Regrettably, the suspect turned out to be a suicide bomber and detonated explosives, causing the fatal incident.
KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan stated that the suspect carried out the explosion while security forces were conducting a search inside the mosque, leading to the loss of life.

The situation remains tense as the mosque also collapsed due to the blast, and it is not yet clear how many individuals may be trapped under the debris. However, eyewitnesses claim that the mosque was empty at the time of the incident.
Following the tragedy, security forces and police have cordoned off the area to secure it.
In response to the suicide blast, Caretaker Minister of Religious Affairs and Information, Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah, condemned the act of violence and assured that the sacrifices made by the police will not be in vain. He emphasized that those responsible for disrupting peace will be dealt with firmly.
Furthermore, a suspicious person has been apprehended at the site of the incident, according to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Ashfaq Anwar. The additional SHO had initiated a search operation upon receiving information about suspicious individuals in the vicinity. However, the suspect escaped into the mosque, leading to the unfortunate events that followed, resulting in the martyrdom of the brave Additional SHO Afridi.
